Provider-neutral comparison

Claude or Gemini? Let the work decide.

Teams working in Google Workspace have more than one AI route. We compare existing work interfaces with connected assistance using a task your team performs regularly.

WERKVERSTAND / CONNECTING INTELLIGENCE

The essential answer

Gemini offers features within Google Workspace; Claude can use Google content through available, authorised connections. The useful comparison is which route produces the better reviewed result from the same sources and permissions with less total effort.

01 / FIT

A good fit when

  • a recurring Google Workspace workflow can be described concretely
  • both product access paths and permitted test sources are established
  • output quality and rework are evaluated together

02 / LIMITS

Not the first choice when

  • a general model ranking would become the purchasing decision
  • the comparison would use different document versions or permissions
  • native integration would be equated with guaranteed professional accuracy

Proximity to Google is not an exclusive selection criterion

Claude documents connections to Gmail, Calendar and Drive. Team and Enterprise use combines organisational enablement with individual authorisation. Gemini extends Google interfaces directly, depending on product availability and settings. Record the interface, account, sources and permitted actions for the comparison instead of choosing one brand for every Google task.

Example: a shared briefing from Drive and email

A project team supplies the same approved text documents and bounded email context. Both routes must produce a briefing with evidenced decisions, open issues and next steps. The reviewer does not see which system produced the draft before scoring it. Then record source errors, omissions and time to approval.

Document access does not equal complete document understanding

Claude’s Google connector documentation describes specific content limits: Gmail attachment metadata is not automatically the attachment’s content, and embedded images in Drive documents are not processed like main text. These are not general model rankings. Test both routes with your actual file types, tables and graphical information.

Review connections, permissions and processing separately

For both routes, record the identity used, visible source scope and possible write actions. Include a test case with an explicitly restricted source. The data review also considers the actual service and connected apps. Do not assume identical access capabilities; record differences in the pilot’s results.

Make the decision across the whole workflow

Evaluate source discovery, drafting, review and hand-off. A familiar interface can ease adoption; a different way of working may produce better results on specific tasks. Test that in the pilot. The AI System Check helps choose a candidate, clear stop criteria and a useful next step without prematurely committing the entire team to one tool.
