Three layers for a clear decision
A model generates and processes content. An app organizes interaction with it. An integration connects that work to other systems. The same business objective in a proposal process can therefore be achieved through several routes. Define the required data and reviewable result first, then choose the interface.
Distinguish chat, Cowork, Code and API
Cowork focuses on multistep knowledge work, while Claude Code works with software projects. The Claude Platform provides APIs for custom applications. These access routes have different workflows and contractual considerations. A chat subscription does not establish that an arbitrary API integration is already paid for, activated or approved for business use.
Choose a recurring bottleneck
A suitable first task has available inputs, a clear output and a person who can judge quality. Examples include a briefing from approved sources or a proposal draft with fixed pricing rules. AI does not automatically resolve unclear responsibilities. Document the existing manual process before the pilot.
Evaluate Claude alongside alternatives
