WERKVERSTAND / CONNECTING INTELLIGENCE

The essential answer

Claude for Small Business expanded its workflows and integrations on 15 September 2026. SMEs should start with one frequent, verifiable process and define access, data and approval clearly.

What the expansion actually includes

Anthropic lists 43 workflows and 27 new integrations, including Shopify, Salesforce, Stripe and Zapier. The offering addresses operational tasks such as enquiries, proposals and reporting. Additional in-person workshops are scheduled in US cities. This does not establish equivalent event availability in Germany, Austria or Switzerland.

The number of integrations is not a sufficient selection criterion. What matters is whether your actual business system can connect using the right account, required fields and permitted actions. Check any additional costs charged by that service. An available template does not yet prove that the workflow works in your company.

Three questions for selecting the first process

Start with three questions: how frequently does the task occur, how clear is a correct outcome, and who can verify it? A weekly proposal brief is often easier to introduce than an autonomous sales process. Its inputs can be bounded, and the responsible person can recognize missing scope details or unanswered questions.

Document the current workflow. Where do people search, copy, calculate or request clarification? Note handling time and common errors. Automation can be assessed sensibly only when the comparison process is known. Avoid choosing a pilot merely because a particular app has just appeared in the directory.

Also assess whether the task needs AI at all. Adding two figures from a fixed table each month may require only a transparent spreadsheet formula. Turning differently worded customer enquiries into a common structure is a more plausible test for a language model. Include the simpler alternative in the evaluation. This makes the pilot a decision about the workflow rather than a retrospective justification for a product already selected.

Example: turn an enquiry into a proposal brief

A fictional facilities service receives enquiries by email. Claude should structure approved details into a table: location, requested service, floor area, desired start date and unanswered questions. Incomplete details remain visible gaps. The responsible person then decides whether a call, site visit or concrete quotation should follow.

Use ten sanitized historical enquiries with known outcomes for the pilot. Check whether different wording maps to the same field and whether Claude treats an assumed floor area as fact. Only once the extraction can be assessed reliably is an inbox connection worth considering. Pricing decisions and customer delivery remain distinct steps.

Example: prepare a weekly operating overview

A small retailer may benefit from a report covering open orders, delayed deliveries and outstanding questions. Define a cutoff time and start from a controlled export. Every row needs a unique order identifier. This makes it possible to spot two views double-counting the same transaction or mixing different reporting periods.

The report should prepare action: which three cases need attention, what information is missing and who owns the next step. Do not automatically send customer reminders before checking status and recipient logic. A short, accurate task list can be more useful than a large dashboard without clear next actions.

Accept the template, connector and workflow separately

A template describes the task. A connector opens a data path. The operating workflow determines what happens after success, failure or missing approval. Test these layers separately: first output quality with example data, then limited data access, and finally a complete work cycle with an accountable owner. This sequence makes problems easier to diagnose.

Review the trial after two comparable work cycles. How much handling time was required including review, what errors remained, and how often did someone intervene? Keep only a workflow with visible value. Training should cover the actual process introduced, including stopping, requesting clarification and handling an unusable result.

Common questions about the small-business offering

Are all integrations automatically included and enabled? The announcement describes the offering, not your particular account configuration. Check permissions, plan and enablement for each service.
