The essential answer

The new Claude Marketplace brings together extensions, software and service providers from 23 September 2026. Businesses should select against a defined process: permissions, data flows, costs and a verifiable result.

What matters about the new marketplace

Anthropic combines connectors and plugins, products and agents, and service providers in one marketplace. At launch, it reports more than 2,000 connectors and plugins. Eligible customers can buy selected software using part of their committed Anthropic spending. This does not create a general purchasing credit for every Claude subscription or make every listing free.

For a small company, a common discovery surface can make selection easier. It does not replace the decision about which task should actually improve. A listed service provider also establishes no relationship with Werkverstand. We assess the announcement as an independent consultancy and make no manufacturer, partner or reseller claim.

Identify the kind of extension first

Start by identifying what the process lacks. If the team needs access to a particular source system, assess a suitable data connection. If it lacks a repeatable procedure, examine a plugin and its included instructions and tools. An external product may bring its own contract, data store and operating requirements. A consultancy supports implementation; it is not an installable capability.

This distinction helps avoid poor purchases. A company producing monthly project reports may need only a reliable export and a well-designed report template. A larger agent product becomes useful when additional steps and responsibilities justify the overhead. Describe the missing capability in one sentence before comparing listings.

Use a concrete selection record

For each candidate, record the provider, purpose, supported accounts, required permissions and possible write actions. Add the selected data sources, the contact for failures and the method for revoking access. Check the actual listing and provider documentation; a familiar platform name says little about the scope of a particular extension.

The selection record also needs an expected outcome. For example, approved project hours and an existing budget file should produce a table of variances per project. Missing hours must be flagged, not estimated. A candidate that reliably fulfils this assignment is more valuable than a longer feature list without a verifiable deliverable.

Record how each candidate can be removed as well. After a trial, revoke unused permissions and deliberately retain or delete test outputs. This closing step is part of assessing operational fit: an extension should be understandable to operate and replace, not merely quick to install.

Separate installation from practical validation

Begin with a small approved data set and a named owner. Alongside the normal case, test an empty result, missing access and a contradictory record. Watch whether the extension stops clearly or produces an apparently complete answer from incomplete information. Document which actions happen automatically and which require confirmation.

A successful connection test proves only that a technical connection can be established. Separately check business correctness and failure handling. A report should make clear, for example, which project was excluded because information was missing. A write action requires verification of the stored result and a practical correction procedure.

Check costs and ongoing ownership

Compare total operating costs: existing licences, additional product fees, model consumption, setup and review time. Do not assume a marketplace listing is covered by your Claude subscription. For larger purchases, obtain written confirmation of the billing party and which items count against any committed spending agreement.

Also appoint a business owner. This person reviews plugin changes, unusual results and whether access is still necessary. After a staffing change, it should be clear whether the connection depends on an individual’s login. A small, maintained catalogue of extensions is often easier to operate than many unattended installations.

Common questions about Claude Marketplace

Is every listing supplied by Anthropic itself? Check the individual provider; a directory combines different offerings. Does a large plugin count prove quality? Your company should judge the result of its own bounded test.

Should existing integrations be replaced immediately? Only when a demonstrable benefit justifies migration effort. The AI System Check helps define a suitable process and clear acceptance criteria first. Selecting individual offerings becomes useful after that groundwork.
