What Claude Slides does and who can access it

Anthropic introduced Claude Slides on 16 September 2026. It creates presentations, supports editing and presenting within Claude, and exports to PowerPoint or PDF. It is a paid-plan beta capability, with organizational enablement required for Enterprise. Distinguish this from the separate gradual rollout of the overall new Claude interface.

Check availability using the actual business account. An existing approved analysis is enough for a first trial. If sources, numbers, visual style and audience all have to be defined at once, it becomes difficult to evaluate the presentation tool itself. Start from a clear and agreed body of information.

Start with the decision, before counting slides

Consider a fictional wholesaler deciding which suppliers need closer attention next quarter. The presentation should not summarize every available data point. It should answer three questions: where are delivery deviations largest, how reliable is the comparison, and what action is proposed? These questions determine the slide sequence.

Start with a simple outline: decision, evidence, notable trend, possible causes, options and next step. Give each slide one message and supporting evidence. Remove a slide when it repeats another. The tool can then reduce production work while your team retains responsibility for the argument and the decision it supports.

A useful brief for the first draft

A concrete brief might be: “Create six slides for our internal purchasing meeting. Use only the approved monthly report. Every metric must show its period and unit. Label possible causes explicitly as hypotheses. Finish with two options and the information still needed for each. Use our supplied visual reference and do not invent additional customer logos.”

Separate content revisions from visual revisions. Review the messages and sequence first, then charts and layout. An early debate about colors can hide the fact that the wrong metric is being compared. For later changes, identify the affected slides so that already reviewed material is not needlessly regenerated.

Check charts and numbers against their sources

Assign every chart to someone who can open the source table. Do the filter, period, unit and denominator match? A percentage may refer to orders, revenue or delivery line items, and these differences change the meaning. Also check whether a truncated axis makes a small effect look much larger.

Ask a second person to read the deck without narration. They should be able to identify the decision, uncertainty and proposed next step. If the main message only makes sense after you explain it, the slide needs a more precise title or structure. More animation or additional pictures will not resolve that problem.

Also test the presentation under actual meeting conditions: are figures legible from the back of the room, do colours have clear meaning without spoken explanation, and does a monochrome copy remain understandable? A proposal presentation also needs checking against the approved quotation. Scope, dates and prerequisites must match. Condensed slide wording must not create a new commitment. Keep a checked export available in case connectivity fails.

Test the file in the actual presentation setup

Open the exported PowerPoint file in the application that will actually be used to present. Check line wrapping, type sizes, chart labels and visible margins on the meeting display. Review PDF output separately if it will be distributed to attendees. A convincing browser draft is not yet a tested attachment.

Use an output folder with unambiguous version names. The accepted report remains the source of the numbers; the presentation is a derived explanation. If the underlying data changes, reconcile both again. Measure time until a usable file is ready, including revisions and export review, rather than the seconds until a first draft appears.
